Three days, two nights from Dasada: a dawn safari for flamingos and wildlife, a birding walk, a village safari and a look at the weaves and beadwork of the region.
Flamingos & Flatlands is a short self-drive tour of the Little Rann of Kutch based at Dasada in Gujarat. You bring your own vehicle. It mixes early-morning wildlife viewing with the rural side of the region: the villages, the farmers and the handicrafts.
The Little Rann is a wide, flat landscape, so drives across it feel very different from a road trip. As with any safari, timings can change with the weather and local conditions.

The programme, day by day
Times are as printed on the flyer.
Day 1, Friday, November 27: Arrival and introduction
Meals marked: lunch, dinner
- 1:00 pm Check in at Dasada, Gujarat. Check in to your hotel and relax.
- 2:00 pm Meet and greet, followed by lunch.
- 5:00 pm Nature walk: birding and rural life. A walk that looks at the smaller bird life, the farming practices of the local community and the simple way of life of the farmers.
- 8:00 pm Return to the hotel, followed by dinner.
Day 2, Saturday, November 28: Safari and heritage experience
Meals marked: breakfast, lunch, dinner
- 5:30 am Morning safari: flamingos and wildlife. A drive across the Rann at the start of the day.
- 10:30 am Breakfast.
- 11:30 am Pool and resort activities. Time to unwind at the resort.
- 1:30 pm Lunch.
- 3:00 pm Village safari. Meet the communities, see their weaving and look at their handicrafts.
- 5:00 pm Handicraft experience. The flyer names three crafts: the weaves of the Kharapat Rabari women, the beadwork of the Mir women of Dasada, who make beaded bangles, and the Tangalia weave, a local weave in which extra knots are added on the weft to create motifs.
- 8:30 pm Return to the hotel, followed by dinner.
Day 3, Sunday, November 29: Farewell
Meals marked: breakfast
- 10:00 am Breakfast and transfers. Breakfast, then on to your onward journey.
- Timings are subject to change due to weather conditions and local factors.
- Carry valid ID proof for check-in and safari permits.
